Lesson: Reading
Class: 11/6
Time allotted: 45’
Aim: To help students learn and practice sub-skills of reading.
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- Explain the meaning in context
- Read the passage for comprehension
- Remember the main ideas of the passage.
- Talk about their own hobbies.
Teaching aids and materials: Textbook, blackboard, pictures, projector.

I. Warm-up
(5’)
Game: Bingo!
Objective: to involve Ss in the lesson and lead in the topic of the reading.
- T asks Ss to close their book.
- Ask Ss to take a piece of paper.
- T gives the instructions to play game:
+ Ask Ss to list activities people often do in their spare time.
+ Ss are asked to list as many as they can within 2 minutes.
+ T shows in turn each kind of hobby and Ss will put a tick (√) next to that word.
+ The first student to tick all 5 words will shout “Bingo!” and win the game.
- T allows Ss to play game.
Expected answer:
- T declares the winner and gives gift.
Lead in:
+ T asks Ss the questions:
“What is the common topic of these activities?”
Ss: HOBBIES
+ T introduces: “Today we will read a passage about some hobbies of the writer.”
